  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Overcoming by Praising

Psalm 34:1 I will bless Jehovah at all times; His praise will continually be in my mouth. 42:11 Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I will yet praise Him, The salvation of my countenance and my God. 1 Cor. 10:10 Neither murmur, just as some of them murmured and perished by the destroyer.

God's children should open their mouths to praise Him, not only when they are free from problems, hurts, wounds, or difficulties, but even more when there are problems and wounds. When one lifts up his head in these situations and says, "Lord, I praise You," his eyes may be filled with tears, but his mouth will be filled with praise. His heart may be in pain, but his spirit will still praise. His spirit will soar as high as his praise. He can ascend with his praises. Those who murmur are foolish. The more they murmur, the more they are buried under their murmurings. The more they complain, the more they sink into their complaints. The more they allow their problems to overtake them, the more exhausted they become. Many people...strive and struggle to get out of their situations. Even though their circumstances and wounds try to bury them, they try to get out by prayers. But there are also times when prayer does not work. Nothing seems to be able to deliver them until they praise. When you put yourself in such an overcoming position, you immediately transcend everything, and no problem will be able to bury you. Sometimes you may feel that something is trying to run you over. But as soon as you praise, you will come out of your depression.

Being Faithful to Witness

Bible Verses

1 Cor. 9:19 For though I am free from all, I have enslaved myself to all that I might gain the more. (22) ...that I might by all means save some.

Acts 26:16 But rise up and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a minister and a witness...

Words of Ministry

D.L. Moody was very good at leading men to salvation. He once made up his mind to preach the gospel to at least one person a day, whether or not he was giving a message on that day. One day he went to bed, and then he remembered that he had not preached the gospel to anyone yet. What should he do? He changed his clothes and went out again to look for someone he could speak to. It was already midnight when he looked at his watch; the streets were empty. Where could he find anyone at such an hour? The only person he could speak to was a policeman who was on duty: "You must believe in the Lord." The policeman was in a bad mood over something at the moment, and he scolded Moody angrily, saying, "Do you not have something better to do than persuade me to believe in Jesus in the middle of the night?" Moody went home after sharing a brief word with him. But the policeman was touched by Moody's word. A few days later he visited Moody and was saved.

We must uphold the torchlight of the gospel and must light everyone around us. Let every Christian go forth to light others. The testimony of the gospel needs to go out from us until the Lord's return. So many souls before our eyes are in need of salvation. We must try our best to testify to them and lead them to Christ.

God Desiring Praise in Everything

Bible Verses

Psalm 42:3 My tears have been my food day and night... (4) ...I led them to the house of God with the voice of a joyous shout and praise, the festal multitude. (5) Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I will yet praise Him for the salvation of His countenance.

Words of Ministry

As you learn to praise, you will find that there are days in which you cannot gather yourself to praise. Perhaps you praised God seven times today, yesterday, and the day before. But one day you will find that you cannot utter a praise. On such days you are in pain, total darkness, or dire trouble. On such days you suffer misunderstanding and slander. You are busy shedding tears of self-pity. You feel that the most obvious response would be complaint rather than praise. You feel that the most obvious thing to do would be to murmur rather than give thanks. At that very moment, you should remember that Jehovah's throne has not changed, His name has not changed, and His glory has not changed.

You should praise Him simply because He is worthy of praise. You should bless Him simply because He is worthy of all blessings. At that moment, your praise becomes a sacrifice of praise. Your praise is like the slaughter of your fattest calf. Your praise in tears is a sacrifice of praise. You are wounded before God. You die before God. You suffer loss, and you sacrifice before God. But you realize that God's throne is established in the heavens and cannot be shaken, and you do not hold back your praise. This is the sacrifice of praise. God desires His children to praise Him in everything and through every situation.

Ephesians 6:19
And [pray]
for me, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known in boldness the mystery of the gospel, (20) For which I am an ambassador in a chain, that in it I would speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Words of Ministry

You also need to pray unceasingly for God to provide you with the right opportunity to speak. When you pray, God will give you the opportunity. One sister gathered a group of women together once a week and led them in a Bible study. The women all worked in the same company, and none of them believed in the Lord. One of them was very particular about her dress. She was very proud and would not listen to anything the sister said. The sister took notice of her and prayed for her. She asked God to give her the opportunity to speak to the woman. One day she felt a desire to invite the woman over for tea. Since this woman loved to socialize, she accepted the invitation.

When she came, the sister encouraged her to believe in the Lord. She replied, "I cannot believe. I like to gamble, and I love pleasure. I do not want to lose these things. I cannot believe in Jesus." The woman said, "The price is too high. I cannot afford it." The sister said, "I hope you will go back and consider it." After she said this, she continued to pray for her. The woman returned home and knelt down to pray. After she prayed, she suddenly said, "I have decided to follow the Lord Jesus today." She changed suddenly. She could not explain it, but her heart just turned. She changed her attire; she no longer dressed the same as before. Wonderful things followed one after another. Within a year many of her colleagues were brought to the Lord one by one.

The Bible Explains the Mysterious God

Bible Verses

John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing. (7) If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.

Words of Ministry

In order for the Lord to abide in us, it is necessary to let His words abide in us. By what means did we hear the gospel and receive the Lord as our Savior? It was by His words. When we received His word, we actually received the Lord Himself because the Lord is in His word and He Himself is the Word. According to the same principle, if we want to allow the Lord to abide in us, we must let His words abide in us.

Now, since we have in our hands the Scriptures which are full of the Lord's words, we should not say that the Lord is far from us, that He is still mysterious, or that He is still so spiritual instead of being substantial. Praise the Lord that we have something very substantial, available, and practical in our hands. We have the Word. We can read the Word and receive it with our heart and our spirit. We can contact the word of the Lord in our spirit day by day and even moment by moment. As long as we are contacting the Lord's word, we are contacting the Lord Himself.

The Lord is very mysterious. For this reason, we can never understand Him by our imagination. Rather, we must read the sixty-six books of the Bible. We must read these sixty-six books word by word because all of the words express, explain, and define our mysterious Lord. If we want to know Him, we must know the Word and how to deal with the Word.

Loving Other Believers

Bible Verses

John 15:12 This is My commandment, that you love one another even as I have loved you. (17) These things I command you that you may love one another.

1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed out of death into life because we love the brothers. He who does not love abides in death.

Words of Ministry

We are not branches of many separate trees; we are all branches of the same tree
[Christ]

. So we need to maintain a good fellowship with all the other branches as well as with the tree. If we do not love one another, it will be very difficult to bear fruit. If we do not love one another, it means that our fellowship with the vine tree has been cut off. In order to bear fruit we must love one another.

The life within all of us is one life. The life in you is exactly the same as the life in me. This resembles the circulation of the blood in our physical body. The blood in our body circulates through every member of our body. In like manner, the inner life of all the branches is one.

This life should continually circulate through all the branches. Then all the branches will be so living and filled with the riches of life in order to bear fruit.
We must keep our relationship in love and love one another by the life that is in us. This life is the Lord Himself. Loving one another is the church life, the Body life. The Body life is a life of love and a life in love. We should not love one another with a human love but in the divine life and with the divine love... Although the branches are many, they are one. They are one with the vine and with one another.
