• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I doubt the U.S. would give up the most economically and agriculturally important state in the Union. America would only be a shadow of its current self without California.

P.S. regarding the comments about American capitalism; American capitalism was inherited directly from England from the very foundation of the colonies. And the industrial revolution which really fueled the incredible growth of capitalism in the 19th century, began in England.

Name one country that the US has occupied that they have not returned.
Are you kidding? The USA annexed almost an entire continent. Beyond that the USA is basically exercising a modern version of imperialism, they get into a country, remake it in their own image and pull out again. This has its good points and its bad points...

The thing about the Middle East is that unlike Africa much of Asia, which were colonised by the well to do European imperialists like France, Britain and Spain, the Middle East were much more influenced by the Ottoman and Russian empire. But when the Russians and Ottomans left, there was a vaccum which the British tried to fill for a brief period, and failed!
In the post cold war years, the US has tried to again fill that vaccum, a very very old vaccum, and it would seem that the Americans are not really getting anywhere either!
