CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes- Manga is anime porn, more or less. Although all Manga is generally graphic enough to be considered 'porn' or 'porn-like' by many Christian and conservative people, some Manga sets out with the specific purpose to be pornographic (and the succeed with extreme style-depending on what your tastes are)

So why is there a forum relating to fans of cartoon porn on a christian forum? Im not offending anyone, I have nothing against anyone who looks at porn, I dont think there is REALLY anything wrong with that, I just dont understand why there would be a forum for porn fans on a christian site...

There are pornographic materials in available in all forms of media (comics, anime) but those are considered "Hentai" which I think means perverted. "Ecchi" is the romanji sounding for "H" which is short for Hentai.

I don't think it helps when way too many video stores stock anime in the kids section.
It was only about 3 weeks ago when I saw a mother grab one of the NGE (Evangelion) DVDs and start to walk to the counter while telling her young kids "this looks like a good one".
I waited to see if the clerk would do anything but she didn't bat and eye. I had to go up and even then the mother wanted an explantion how "cartoons aren't for children".
And that is not the first store that I have encountered that is that oblivious to it.
As far as Hentai ect. I have yet to meet a real anime fan who isn't horribly disgusted by the existance. It's Hentai that causes parents to flip when they find out their kid is watching anime, and its Hentai that causes a lot of people to disregard all anime as junk (even though I have seen some amazing anime over the years)

I think it's ignorant to assume that all anime or manga is porn. It's a nasty rumor that I want to see an end to.
Also, many of Manga Entertainment's products are not porn. They put out some good anime like Castle of Cagliostro (highly recommended in subtitles, though the dub adds cursing, ugh).
There is plenty of good manga out there too. Magic Knight Rayearth, Angelic Layer, One Piece, Azumanga Daioh, Astro Boy, and many others are definatly worth reading.

Ghost in the Shell and Akira, the Hellsing Manga, there are a lot of good ones.
P.S. Hentai is porn, unfortunately. All I can say is the movie camera produces both good clean films and porn films. The medium is not the message.

Regretably, there is a lot of people that have a very set view of anime. It is to the point that there are few who realize that a lot of the series that they love on North American TV, are actually anime that has been dubbed for showing here. Also there is the lovely fact that for years North American companies would change so much of the original story to fit their ideal consumers of children (anyone here see when Escaflowne was shown on FOX?). For years it has been seen as either porn or just simple cartoons for children (which isn't correct either).Brian said:
