After a couple months of running around on my own... without a church home, without pastoral care and intercession, flopping around like a fish out of water and basically surviving on really tiny morsels of scriptural food from various churches in the area... I have a church home!
They have what I've been looking for: a vision, a local church in the community I live in, opportunities for growth, strong leadership, young people, seasoned veterans and plenty of young single Christian ladies... that was gravy.
I talked with the pastor for an hour last night and I've already been 'strongly encouraged' to apply my gifts, talents and skills in various ministries: from outreach to the youth to sweeping the floor.
I really thank God for my new home. The pastor is articulate, thorough, intelligent, realistic, faithful, patient, a sports fan and a man*... He's the mentor I've been looking for.
* He looked me in my eye and gave me an honest answer without the slightest quiver in his voice.
