God is Spirit and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Thinking on your post reminds me of what the apostles believed, that it was counted a great thing to go through trials and tribulations. I often had wondered how in the world they could think it was great to be martyres, ya know. But it has been a great joy to read the book of Daniel, which is what your post reminds me of. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo- excellent men of faith.
Daniel was willing to face off with a great number of lions in a den. Believing God would be his true judge and not man. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo another great example, for here these men served only the one true God, and because of their faith they were tossed into a great hot fire. So hot it killed the men sent to throw them in.
This symbolizes judgment to me, going through a fire. These men trusted God above even what the flesh told them to be true. Amazing is it not, for this was amazing worship- for it was done in spirit (for he was there in the fire with them) and in truth, for they knew God was able to rescue them- and you know through their faith in God others would believe!
Our faith should be so bold!
So to me these apostles and men of faith had something I hope one day to have, a chance to see what I believe. Because in these precious moments when we believe, God can move mountains in our presence! We are told signs and wonders follow those who believe, and praise God it is true!
Like David said: Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
And to the apostles: these signs follow those who believe....
God Bless
