  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

 You will apply various torturous devices to extremely sensitive parts of your anatomy to defy your parents, but you won't go to Midnight Mass?

Am I missing something here?

PS---Joe, you know I love you, brother, but I have to say that this baffles me.

Especially his two best friends! I can still remember a few times when I've sat down on a chair arm the wrong way, or I was standing up when I hit the brakes on the bicycle so the crossbar came back and hit me, or when I ran into the edge of a table....there's little that can compare with that in terms of sheer pain.

Medical research also shows that the WIVES of circumcized men experience fewer incidents of cervical cancer than those of uncircumcized men.

WRONG WRONG WRONG.

That is an old wife's tale that has been debunked. Nothing could be further from the truth. The original studies that made that bogus claim were statistically flawed. The difference can be accounted for in llifestyle choicces, not the status of your partners genitals. Here is a letter from the American Cancer Society stating their position.

Dr. Peter Rappo
Committee on Practice & Ambulatory Medicine
American Academy of Pediatrics
141 Northwest Point Boulevard
P. O. Box 927
Elk Grove Village, IL 60009-0927

Dear Dr. Rappo:

As representatives of the American Cancer Society, we would like to
discourage the American Academy of Pediatrics from promoting routine
circumcision as preventative measure for penile or cervical cancer.
The American Cancer Society does not consider routine circumcision
to be a valid or effective measure to prevent such cancers.

Research suggesting a pattern in the circumcision status of partners
of women with cervical cancer is methodologically flawed, outdated and
has not been taken seriously in the medical community for decades.

Likewise, research claiming a relationship between circumcision and
penile cancer is inconclusive. Penile cancer is an extremely rare
condition, effecting one in 200,000 men in the United States. Penile
cancer rates in countries which do not practice circumcision are lower
than those found in the United States. Fatalities caused by
circumcision accidents may approximate the mortality rate from penile
cancer.

Portraying routine circumcision as an effective means of prevention
distracts the public from the task of avoiding the behaviors proven to
contribute to penile and cervical cancer: especially cigarette smoking
and unprotected sexual relations with multiple partners. Perpetuating
the mistaken belief that circumcision prevents cancer is inappropriate.

Sincerely,

Hugh Shingleton, M.D. Clark W. Heath, Jr., M.D.

Is circ-reversal/fs-restoration immoral, and why or why not?

It is not immoral at all. You have every right to want something back that was taken from you without your consent, for the purpose of curing problems that weren't there to begin with and probably never would have been. It is also important to note that there is increasing evidence that the circumcision that is done to children today is not the same operation that was done to Jewish children in the time of Christ and earlier. The procedure at that time only removed the very tip of the foreskin leaving the vast majority intact (Circumcision meaning to cut in a circle) in other words the foreskin was circumcised, NOT AMPUTATED which is what happens today. This only changed 100-200 years AFTER the life of Christ (Edwards, Allen "Erotica Judaica,, page 115). Ironically if you do this, you will be much closer to the state of Jews in antiquity than you are now. If you follow common sense (don't cause pain or constriction), and have patience, you can do this (take it from someone who knows). I am sorry if I have been too explicit in this post but there is so much misinformation surrounding this issue. The only Catholics who do this are some American and perhaps Phillipino, the rest of Europe and Latin America have lived without this for hundreds (in some cases thousands) of years without any problems.
