How do you make sense of life when life doesn't make much sense? What do you do when the events of life just seem so stupid and nonsensical that they don't seem to have much of a point and you're just longing for your far better heavenly home? Sometimes it's so hard to understand what God is doing and what His will is, despite praying so much for His will to be done. How do you come to terms with what is His will and let go of the "what if this or that had happened?" and the self-blame that accompanies you when things seem to go not so well?

Life never really made sense to me, so in that way, it makes sense.

If in a future time, the world started to make sense, I may become confused.

Perhaps you have expectations that are not in tune with the reality that in which we live. Maybe you have a world view that is out of sync with reality. Do you think God is controlling everything that happens in your life? If so, that is the first expectation that may skew your conclusions. If that is what you believe, then it is no wonder that nothing makes sense. The devil is the god of this world, and he is in control of the whole world. Unless, of course, you pray against him. If people believe that God is in control of everything, they will assign all the work of the devil to Him. That is a recipe for massive confusion. Then they take it one step further and assume that since God is doing all these horrible things in the world and in their lives, that is what He must be like. IOWs, they form their concept of God by the things that they see and experience in life. Ouch.
The key is to expect the unexpected. Believe God for the best, but do not be surprised if it does not aways what happen. Hebrews 11 talks about the heroes of the faith who never received what they were promised, but they believed God till the end anyways!. They were counted as faithful.

Sorry for the cliche answer, but we'll probably just have to wait until we are in Heaven to really understand why / how things happen the way they do.

I mean, there's a whole other unseen spiritual dimension and activity happening that we don't even know the fine details of.

Just know that you are not alone. We are all going through it to some degree.

This is why it does make sense. It's in all your posts. Just a reminder.

I do long for death and to be eternally with God in heaven, but I want to live as long as possible. God is incompressible and above our understanding. Sometimes life doesn't make much since, but all things work out well for those who love him.

Blessings

Thank you for this reminder. I need to hold on to Romans 8:28. The promises of God are real, He does not lie!

You know, it's true, God has been dealing with me about forgiveness for a while. I think the worst thing was not realizing that unforgiveness was my own problem. But now that I've realized the problem, He's been helping me to address it. But I'm also dealing with self-blame, and I can't blame myself for everything that happens. Of course, there are always responsible parties to things that happen, but there is also the fact that we humans can be evil and can do evil things, no matter how much good we may want to see in a situation or in a person. So I have to stop blaming myself. I can't make everything go well.

You're right. Thank you for this reminder and for the video. Jesus did say that in this world we will have tribulation. Trials and tribulations come to us all on different scales. Enduring with the help of God's grace is the key. May God give us the grace to endure what we are going through in Jesus name, amen.

You have a good point. I think what's been wrong with my world view is that I've been so naive because I grew up so sheltered. As an adult, with real life experience under my belt, I see that humans are far from perfect. I think that if I stop expecting everyone to be perfect and for Christians and unbelievers to make mistakes and do things the wrong way it will give me a more realistic view of life. It's a bit hard to come out of that wrong mindset when you've been sheltered for so long.... but I've been learning, ever so painfully. But in general, I like to pray for God's will to be done when I have important decisions in front of me because I remember the example of our Savior in the Garden of Gethsemane. <3

It reminds me of one aspect of my upbringing. When I was pre-teen my parents did shelter me too much. I had 3 older brothers and anyone who has older brothers knows what I experienced there. But mom especially protected me too much. But that is not the worst. She died when I was 13 and my father remarried. I will not go into details but the remainder of my life in that house was a daily nightmare. So I went from overprotected to what I would not consider emotional child abuse.
That did affect my life for a number of years, and I have to say I was almost in my 30s before I let it come out and dealt with it. God saw me through. I questioned Him for a long time... but I see now I had to deal with this (with His help). But He is big and can deal with our issues. He knows.

Amen, Yes, indeed He certainly does know. I'm sorry that you went through that abuse, and my condolences about your mom. I'm grateful for you that God helped to bring you through that pain to heal you from it. It shows just how much He is invested in and cares about our deepest hurts! God is good. So good :)
