  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As you know, I am at university now and I notice that every day, outside the library where everyone walks past is a table with a religious group or environmentalist group with many pamphlets for their cause.

Basically, I would like to book the table one day and put some pamphlets on Catholicism out myself.

pamphlets are fairly expensive to buy for some reason, so I think the best way is to make them (unless anyone knows of free ones online) to fit a pamphlett template in Word.

They would be 2 A4 sides folded up.

Once we created a few of these pamphlets, we could use them wherever we liked, to hand out to people who ask you questions or to place in your parish.

Basically, it seems to me that people are more likely to read a physical pamphlet than telling them to visit a website, it is much harder to ignore the truth if it is on a piece of paper in your hand!

So, would anyone be interested in helping to plan and then create a series of pamphlets on various topics together?

We could then all print them off and use them whenever we like, that way we could just give our friends these little summeries rather than having to try and remember all the points ourselves.

What do you think? Anyone interested?

Mark, i think this is an excellent idea! I made a few pamphlets through MS Works, they are a three fold pamphlet on A4 paper, nice photos etc..they were to do with the Sacrament of Reconcilliation and though i made them for my childen the priest was rather taken with them! In other words, you don't need to pay out a fortune, you just need a computer/printer and a ream of paper and refillable ink cartridges! Do you have a Morrisons supermarket near you? Often they have 'buy one pack get one free' of refillable ink sets...you get three bottles of black ink and you get three free...for about £7.99...the colour you get your red/yellow/ blue x 2 for about £9.99....all syringes and accessories supplied.

If i can help with anything i will ..though i don't know how much use i'll be :)

God Bless your endeavours

Ohhhh YIIPPEEEE!

How exciting! Just what those kids need! We can start by looking here http://www.geocities.com/peterpaulmin/articles.html

They have loads of cool articles, pamphlet size, about abortion, confession, and all sorts of things suited to University age people!

Let me know if I can help with anything, or when you're done, do email me so that I can also print some of them. I'm always putting literature out in the front of our parish. arnosacha@qlink.ca

Regards,
Sacha

OK :) well, first of all a template needs to be designed so that all the pamphlets are the same format.

the "brochure" in "new" in Microsoft Word is the basic format, but the content categories now needs to be decided.

it makes sense to have some kind of picture on the front as well as a what's inside type thing and an introduction.

On the next 4 pages we should have the bluk of the explanation, with relevant biblical quotes, catechism quotes and church fathers quotes.

The back page can be a conclusion as well as various places where more information can be found.
