  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Did I miss something? Are you just trying to be funny or something or did someone actually say something about knocking statues over that I didn't see?

not having enough communion to feed a full Mass gives me a sad feeling because I've always equated it with the Jesus second miracle which was multiplying the loaves and feeding everyone, with plenty left. I guess it's naive, but I didn't think it was something which was possible. I have always thought that God would provide it.

If it happened routinely, I think that I'd be annoyed. If it happened randomly once and I was "left out", I'd just figure that God knew that I was at mass and properly disposed for communion and would somehow provide whatever grace that I was supposed to receive through the sacrament.

If you knock statues over every time you get a little angry, then maybe you should pause before judging the people in this thread for a moment and consider the possibility that you have your own faults to deal with.

Or when you get angry while waiting in the COMMUNION line just becuase they accidentally ran out of the host.

Aren't Catholics supposed to not get angry but to 'offer it up' instead? Think of how many souls BA could have delivered from purgatory if he had just done that.

I can't recall ever having had knocked a statue over... but I do recall throwing a Bible against the wall once, but it was a King James so I don't think it counts.

Hey! The King James is only missing the seven Deuterocanonical books (and the 1611 original actually contained them!) Anyway, the King James does too count. It is a Bible and I use one all the time (along with my Douay-Rheimes, NAB, and my Jerusalem).

No throwing Bibles--any Bibles, ya hear!

You must of missed my thread from a couple years ago about what I do with Gideon Bibles.
