Make your own Icons?

Hey folks,

I have a collection of icons in my study but I do not have any wood backed pictures of any of the Reformers. I thought it would be cool to transfer an image of Mather Luther, maybe an image printed on canvas(?), to a piece of wood.

Anyone done this? Backed a pic with wood?

Here's a video on different methods of diy printing on wood. What is especially nice is that the wood tone gives a nice fleshy tone to the portrait.
