  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Wow I haven't been on CF for agesssssssss!...anyways...

I went to the ''make poverty history'' launch event yesterday in Birmingham and it was fab.
There was this big presentation thing at first, and then some workshops. The workshop I signed up for was this one about ''getting the message out'' and we discussed what works in the media and what doesnt etc etc. This woman suggested that I get my school involved and get us to write to the local newspaper and that is exactly what I plan to do. I've wrote such a good letter lol (well, everyone thinks its good) soooo fingers crossed 'x' the headteacher will want to get involved!

Everyone there was so lovely....I was like the youngest there and I was on my lonesome...but it was still cool.
They're having some rally for it in Edinburgh, but its a tad too far and expensive for me to go, however my mum is goin to see what she can do.

I'm glad that you enjoyed yourself, perhaps you would like to elaborate further on the goals of 'Make Poverty History'..well, obviously it speaks for itself in one way, but can you convey to us what we can be doing to support it..what was outlined and discussed in the workshop you attended? I'd be interested to hear more about this... and we have an OBOB member who lives in Edinburgh, so you might get to meet up if you go :)

God Bless.

its about making the government change unfair trade, cancel debts for those livin in poverty and give more and better aid

you can write to the government...or email them etc etc....and in the workshop we discussed writing to the local newspaper....jst spreadin the word basically....people need to be made aware of the scale of the problem
