Can any one show me a scripture that proves that you have to Make Jesus Lord of your life for salvation. Romans 10:9 is the verse most people use to justify that statement but that is not what the verse says. It says if you confess the Lord Jesus or in other translations that Jesus is Lord. That is a confession of being, not a confession of what you have to do for salvation.
I am not disputing that Jesus is Lord. That is a fact. Furthermore, I have never met anyone who genuinely has faith in God or a god, where they saw themselves as being anything other than the servant or at least underneath the rule of their deity. Even if they did not live like they should, no one has ever had the devil's view of I will usurp God or I refuse to submit to the rule of my deity.
The assumption that just because someone does not say the words, I make Jesus Lord of my life is not saved or has not received salvation is bogused. Because that phrase "Make Jesus Lord of your life", does not exist in scripture, unless someone has clear scripture that shows that phrase exists and is in connection to salvation.
I am not implying that anyone who has said that as part of salvation is not saved. If you have been around a number of different churches and or crusades, you will quickly see that everyone has a different prayer for getting someone saved. If we hold to an idea that one has to pray just one particular way for salvation than most people are not saved, which I do not believe.
I think its all a matter of what the person believed in their heart when they asked God to save them
For the most part it appears that this phrase is used to imply works as being part of salvation instead of it being a free gift apart from works.
Its sort of like the phrase "repent of sin", that phrase does not exist in the Bible. So using that phrase in salvation is false doctrine. Even further the actual meaning of repent in the greek is just change your mind. I go by the original language not by Websters dictionary.
So does anyone know a scripture that actually says "Make Jesus Lord of your life" in connection with getting saved?
