MAGA protesters chant ‘Destroy the GOP’ at pro-Trump rally, boo Republican senate candidates | Fox 59

Fox59 said:
Protests in Washington, D.C., continued through Saturday night after a day of rallies drew large groups of supporters of Pres. Donald Trump — many who called for an end to the GOP....“As we gather here in Washington, D.C. for a second Million MAGA March, we’re done making promises. It has to happen now. We are going to destroy the GOP.”

Supporters responded by echoing, “Destroy the GOP!”

Well, there are a number of Republicans who are very disappointed at the failures of their Party to stand up and do the right thing, time and again, over the course of the past generation or so. It is not totally about the results of the 2020 elections.

Now that the idea of giving up on the Party is in the news again, some people are shocked to witness it, but this has been coming on for years.

However also, and as we here have discussed the matter, it would take a huge effort to launch a viable third party, the laws are stacked against third parties, and such projects normally don't have much of a chance unless a well-known personality leads the fight.

What happens in the coming months should be interesting, to say the least.

That's right! It will be a futile gesture destined for failure, while simultaneously depressing Republican support!

Trump and many of his followers may prefer to sink the ship rather than see him demoted as captain.

As far as I'm concerned, Trump can go down with the ship, along with all of his Yes-man followers. If that's what it takes to save the Republican Party from the clutches of Trumpism, then so be it.

Perhaps the Republicans can pick a better and more qualified former Democrat to lead their party next time.

Are you a Republican yourself? Do you have a personal stake in the Party? Do you hope to see the Republican Party saved?

Unless the answer to all of the above are "yes," those comments, although mildly interesting, are irrelevant.

I agree, look what happened to all the HIPPO's that Pablo Escobar had in Columbia once they escaped and got into the wild. The last thing we need is a bunch of wild RINO's running around causing trouble for Trump.

Yes, I am a Republican. I've voted Republican for over 20 years until the 2016 presidential election. I voted third party rather than vote for Trump or Clinton. I voted a split ticket this election when I voted for Joe Biden. Yes, I really want to see the Republican Party saved from the clutches of Trumpism.

Then you ought to be able to appreciate those fellow Republicans who are the subject of this discussion. Somehow, I got the impression that you are not. (Maybe it was just the insulting term that you chose to use for them.}

I don't have sympathy for the Republican politicians who sold out the Republican Party to Trump. But I admire and respect the Republican politicians who stand up to Trump and publicly oppose him.

I didn't realize implosion was the right thing.

Live and learn.

Probably why it's not particularly shocking.

A well-known and competent personality -- celebrity status does not equal intelligence.

While being well-known would certainly be a plus, what's more useful is the ability to bring a lot of divergent groups to the table and convince them that, working together, they can all achieve at least some of their goals... someone with experience as a community organizer, for example, does that sort of thing all the time.

The trick is, how to get such a man to actually do it...

So when is a better time ?

You now have Trump. You now have disgraced, sold out and divided Republicans. You have large percentage of population that has been made to feel victimized.

Just about what Germany had after the humiliating peace after WWI.

Now is the time to blame deep state, traitors, computers, Krakens, immigrants, atheists, democrats and whatever the pollsters can figure out gets someone excited and create a new party devoted to totalitarian ideals that makes Nazis look like amateurs.

Why wouldn’t Trump and his loyal fan base make a huge effort ?

That might actually be something he would be remembered for.

It just further speaks to just how cult-like Trump's followers are.

But they still have a ways to go to equal Obama's.

You know--the one who was called the "messiah."

I never heard anyone call him that except for right-wingers claiming that liberals did.
