Macromedia Flash problems

Hi, I recently installed Windows XP and while trying to view a flash website it said i needed to download the latest version of flash, so I went to the macromedia flash website and clicked on the install button, waited a while and then the logo appeared to tell me I had successfully installed.  I went back to the website and it continued to tell me that I needed the latest flash, so I went back to macromedia's site and tried to view one of their flash pages in case it was the website that was broken, but it did not load either. 

I've tried uninstalling flash, reinstalling, etc but nothing works, and now not even the logo appears to tell me I've installed successfully, all I get is a white box with a red cross in the corner.

Also, I can't seem to load some java applets either, such as Yahoo! Chat, and I've made sure I have java enabled in internet options.

Can anyone help please?

 

PS: Ever since I installed windows XP, when I turn on my PC it asks me if I want to load Windows XP or "the previous operating system on drive C:".  Is there any way to make windows XP load automatically without me having to select it all the time?

You don't need the program "macromedia flash"

You need the macromedia flash plug-in for whatever browser you are using.

Do a google search

Yes, I know that, the plug-in doesn't work properly for some reason.

If you don't want Opera - try uninstalling and reinstalling - if that doesn't work - try a different site to download it from.

I tried that, and I've tried Opera.

Hm.... had that same problem recently somewhere else. Shame it was on a P133
