  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My wife (beautiful woman that she is) got me "Hard to Believe" by John MacArthur for Father's day.

Any opinions on this book?

I've read the first few pages and I'm already impressed.

Hard to Believe was one of the best books that I have ever read. It is a very good book, but very convicting.
I thought I heard that it was sort of a follow of book to his The Gospel According to Jesus, which I still need to read.

If you don't have that one, "The Gospel According to the Apostles" sounds like a more comprehensive book, at least according to MacArthur's introduction.

Also, if you are reading "Hard to Believe" be sure to read this from MacArthur's website: http://www.gty.org/index/sidebar.php?id=377 There was a paragraph altered by the editors that contridicts salvation by grace and not works. MacArthur did not write that paragraph and does not wish the message he delivers to be obscured by one paragraph.

Thanks for the information.

My edition has the correct revision.
