Mac Virus? Let's Settle This Thing!

I'll concede for the moment that there are no "known" Mac viruses running in the wild right now.

But I still wouldn't let my guard down, Apple's responses to their security vulnerabilities do bother me.

As for a purchase, I'd still take Mac laptop over a Windows laptop any day. (In some cases its cheaper to buy a Mac)

The new MacBooks are sweet, ain't they?

What blows my mind is when people say (as the poster said earlier): "Windows for work, Macs for something else".

WHY? How is it Macs aren't good enough for work? What the bloody toot-nugget are you doing on WIndows that I cannot do on a Mac?

There are more solutions for Windows. It is easier to find people who know how to operate a Windows based network, and much easir to find backup solutions, monitoring solutions, security and rights management systems...

So far, in a world dominated by Windows networks, it is simply cheaper - and easier - to have a large corporate network based on Windows than on Mac OS.

There are more solutions for Windows. It is easier to find people who know how to operate a Windows based network, and much easir to find backup solutions, monitoring solutions, security and rights management systems...

That's not what was asserted. They were specific about the work that a Mac was capable of. AS someone who has been dealing with Windows longer than Macs, you're not going to convince me it's easier to:

operate a Windows based network

Than a Mac-based network? You've got to be kidding. Macs have been network-ready since day one.

Wow. Must be nice to be able to talk out of that orifice like that. Have you ever dealt with OS X security, or management of workstations? The available security solutions are better in every way to Windows. I've run Mac networks and Windows networks. Ten minutes with gpedit is enough to let you know why Windows is so horrible.

No. It isn't. You don't know the least thing about Macs but you've decided you will assert something outrageous. Clever, you are.

Add together the costs of spyware, antivirus apps, gpedit lockdowns (which are halfway solutions at best) and genereal workstation instability versus OS X. Until you've run networks of both types, you haven't the authority or knowledge to assert these sorts of things.

And cheap is a funny claim when you look at TCO studies of Mac vs Windows. But whatever. It's your imaginary universe; you can run it however you want.
