Any mac users out there? I am a convert from windows and would never go back. I have an iMac running mavericks. Never stalls out, never shuts down on me, I can run a bajillion programs at one time, without lag. I am an artist, and have found this really fits my need.

I'm using an intel mac mini bought in the fall '06~running Snow Leopard, ready to upgrade but waiting to see if a new mini is coming out this fall...also have two windows PCs (much newer) the boys use. I was a much bigger mac fanboy early on but Windows 7 & 8 have both been very trouble free for us but still plan on replacing this mac with another ;)

I started out with a mac mini several years ago, then went back to windows, even tried windows 8, but nothing is as good as a mac, in my opinion. Just love the mac. What is it about windows you find better?...or perhaps, just as good?

I've had neither 7 (laptop) nor 8 (desktop) crash on me yet and has basically worked flawlessly. Still have to do the virus scans and such, occasionally pick up something but AV & firewall does a nice job overall and the expense was lower than buying mac laptop & desktop of comparable power. Cost is a big deal, still wouldn't want to move away from mac unless they discontinue the mini, then I'll probably get a used newer one or maybe move on something else pc/linux perhaps.

I'd like to have one more mac, then dual boot linux and learn it but seems I never have enough extra time for these sorts of projects;)

I've got a 12-core 2009/2010 Mac Pro (originally 2009, but upgraded/refurbed w/ 2010 cpu's & firmware and a new psu) running Mavericks and an early 2011 Macbook Pro.

The MP is great; the MBP has been kind of an underwhelming lemon and is on its last legs. I wouldn't say that either have been any more or less problematic than my Windows 7 desktop. They've all got their quirks.

One of my earliest memories is of chilling out in our home office while one of my parents worked on the huge early 2000s era blueberry colored iMacs, haha. I've only ever used Mac products at home and at school. I've had to go through the opposite adjustment when I've used a PC.

I'm glad your new iMac has been a champ for you. :)

I imagine that the experience of each user is different, but I actually started as a PC user, switched to Mac, then went back to PC.

My experience was not a crash-free one. I had problems with my Mac with about the same frequency as I did/do with a PC.

I can say thus far, Windows 8 has been very good to me, fewer errors than I had with Windows 2000, Mac OS9, OSX, and Windows XP.

...and keeping pricing considerations in mind, you have to ask yourself if the service they provide really warrants the doubling in price that you often pay for that pretty little apple logo on the back.

There's just not a big enough difference in what they provide for that big ol' price tag on a Mac.

The machine I'm typing this now on is Windows 8.1, 1TB HD, 12GB RAM, 1080 display, 3 USB ports, HDMI interface, Beats Audio, Mid-high rated video card...total price $899. Take a guess at what a comparable Mac would cost with those specs???...in the range of $1300-$1400 from what I found when researching.
