• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do ya ever wonder about regular posters that disappear for a few days or more and wonder if something happened to them but we'd never find out 'cause maybe their family don't know much about web stuff so they'd be gone forever? I haven't seen Rhamiel around for awhile, saw he hadn't posted since 12/19, and my imagination starts to working...

Yes...I usually notice when people stop posting in our little community and get a little concerned. I noticed when you went missing awhile back and I was relieved to find mention in one of your posts you were just taking a lil' break. :)

Why don't you PM Rhamiel. He may get an email notification if he's too busy for CF at the mo...he might be very touched you are thinking about him.

Am still hoping to see Thunderlove back and he disappeared in April 2007. Some people think he went into the mission field... am praying that's the case.

It's less worrying over the Christmas period cos people get so busy and might be away but, yeah, it's not nice when people disappear cos you may never find out what happened :( You should send Rhamiel a PM, Jimminy

Mr. Jim I really don't worry but to much but I'm guessing your not the type to leave a forum quitely either. Look all I'm saying is if I get to busy or feedup with a forum I'm not going to waste my time posting a goodbye. The only expection to the rule was when I left the CC and that was only out of courtesy because at the time they were having members vote on rules and mods. here at the CF.

But the OP also reflects the fact that something might happen to a dear friend here and we'd never know. I used to be heavily involved in a bereavement forum at another site and a regular suddenly disappeared. Her sister took the effort to create a membership just to let us know that our friend had died in a car accident. I'm not saying that all who disappear have had something tragic happen but how would we ever find out if it did?

He was a friend of mine too, I'm always checking his profile and sending PM's. It's hard when someone disappears.

 The thing is, he seemed to disappear soon after the issue with the Pro-Life ribbons... remember that? But he joined a couple of the forums that sprung up in the wake of that and he hasn't been to any of those, either... it's not like he left in protest - he just disappeared altogether :(

Did he ever mention anything to you before he left?

No. We had a wonderful conversation one day and the next day, he was gone. I do remember the pro-life ribbon issues but he never said he was leaving over it. :(

Nice to see you on here my friend.

I just discovered you guys....
Hope that's okay.....

I've been posting WAY TOO MUCH at sites similar to this since I was probably 10. The weird thing is.... I actually bond to the people I get to know. Maybe silly, since we never actually "meet" at all, but it's not unlike "pen pals" in days before the net. I feel like I know them, and they me. And after some personal stuff gets shared, a few prayers for each other... there is a bond. Whenever I've needed to "move on" (for whatever the reason), I've grieved a bit. Silly as that may seem.

Anyway, after a departure from CF I'd rather not discuss and and absence of nearly 2 years, I "returned" to CF a few months ago - and I'm still finding my way around. Like before, I've stuck to Theology forums because that's where my interests and hopes lie, and in the Lutheran forum since, while away, I officially became Lutheran. A few old friends are still here, many are gone. I've made a few new ones and hope to make more. CF is MUCH smaller now (that's both good and bad) and I'm blessedly "out of the loop" for the inner dynamics of the site (a really good thing), a little older, a little humbler (a few knocks in life will do that), still growing and learning and hoping I can return favors.

This forum seems pretty open to "conservative" Christians (I think my LCMS Lutheran status qualifies me) - regardless of denomination. I HOPE so (PM me if otherwise). CF use to have a large number of STRONG, very conservative Calvinists. I got along very well with them. It seems less so now. The Catholics at CF seem far more numerous than before but less, well... warriors than before. There is a steady flow of posters in and out. And some, like me, who return.

To those of you I remember from before, I'm glad to see you still here! To my new friends and yet-to-be friends, thanks! And to the MANY that just "disappeared" (all about the same time I did), I miss you.

- Josiah

Josiah - I remember you well and just noticed some posts of your's within the past few days - glad to see you're back.

As far as the OP - I know for myself I've registered as several forums over the years, but for the most part most don't hold my interest for very long (I've stuck with CF longer than any of the others). I think folks get occupied elsewhere and don't always realize how much they mean to their cyber friends. That said - if there comes a time when I get too sick to post, I'll have my daughter come here and let folks know what's going on (cause I know I'll be coveting your prayers)

I'm just grateful for CF. I've been to so many bad Christian forums that it drives me bonkers to even think about it. I have seen some terse moments here, but none that folks couldn't walk away from. Either way, you guys are appreciated!
