  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I used to love show. Then, it got way too preachy.

I once read an interview with the real life surgeons who inspired Hawkeye and Trapper in the original book and they were pretty ____ off about how they were portrayed in the TV show.

The one said that they were proud to be there, as opposed to the show, which portrayed them as constantly whining.

I think the funniest thing I've ever seen was right after the invasion of Iraq. Wayne Rogers (pro-America), who is now retired from acting and is a commentator for FOXNews, faced off with Mike Farrell (anti-America).

In case you ever wondered who would win in a fight, Trapper or B.J., Wayne Rogers cleaned his clock.

My parents watch it on fox every night! And there was a MASH marathon over the Easter weekend where they played every episode!!! I don't mind the show but after watching nearly every episode 10 times (may be exaggerating a little bit) you sort of get over it. I still don't mind watching it every now and then though.

By referring to Farrell as anti-America do you mean he hates everything about the country of his birth and upbringing or that he doesn't agree with Bush's view of things?

I mean that he lived up to his reputation as being rabidly anti-America.

Interpret that any way you like.

I started out hating this 'cuz my dad would watch it all the time, but it grew on me and now I love it! I was looking at this thread and no-one was mentioning Klinger 'til country woman. He is the funniest person there! And there is this very insignificant character, he's this korean dude that sells stolen watches and cameras and whatever else he can get his hands on, he's funny too.
