  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

From a practical point of view, do not get the small compact size. I had it, but the edition was printed so close to the binding to keep it small that it had to be opened at an unnatural angle to read, which was terrible for the binding. I ended up giving it away because it was so difficult to use.

Any Reformed opinions of the Lutheran Study Bible?

The Lutheran Study Bible

Yours in the Lord,

jm

Not reformed but like Sproul a lot, and know this particular bible fairly well. I can only compare its brief commentary to the much more extensive commentary of the Life Application popular in our bible studies several people read commentaries from and online commentary at Bible hub, and I think all commentaries are really just opinion from what I've seen, often helpful, but don't depend on one alone.

I've used the Lutheran study bible because it's at our church, and it's the ok, accurate enough NRSV (I'd prefer the ESV), and with introductions to books that are helpful. It's not a more complete every passage commentary bible, but what it does have is pretty good. The best help is usually reading all the context of nearby verses and many times also passages further away in a book.
