I lust after any number of things. I lust after women that are not my wife. She lusts for men that are not me. We don't act on that lust because we try to be civilized, thoughtful people. Lusting is not good or bad, it just is.

Not Biblical.

Lust is a natural and valuable human emotion. The ONLY way to possibly conclude it's bad is if you claim some sort of divine authority who told you it is. In and of itself, there's nothing bad about it. Without it, the human race would have long ago ceased to exist.

Completely unBiblical with no foundation in truth. God has never needed sin to propulgate the human race.

Oh, and don't worry about lusting about someone other than your wife/girlfriend. Again, that's natural. Worry about it when you DO something about that lust (ie., have an affair).

Again, completely unBiblical for as far as God is concerned, if you lusted in your heart, it is the smae as committing the very act.

No, that's true. Just because something is natural doesn't mean that it isn't a "sin", or wrong. However, calling something a sin because it's reported by anonymous authors that a minor failed Jewish prophet said it two thousand years ago doesn't quite work for me.

As it stands, you and every nonBeliever in Jesus Christ can continue to do whatever you wish for the sin of lust is the least of your problems.

What you need is someone calling you to a saving grace in Jesus Christ. It is then that the scales will be removed from your eyes.

Perhaps we should abandon what we call "lust" and accept a new perception of how we perceive others? With a wife or girlfriend, instead of lust, why not feel passion, warmth, and love?

Because Jesus Christ, the Word of God, does not change. He has ALREADY rendered His commands about lust and our feeble attempt to redefine lust so that we can feel comfortable about our unGodly behavior DOES NOT CHANGE the standard by whih He will judge.

Lust is the basic instinct we have to procreate, and indeed it should be regulated, but we should also not be cold or misanthropic towards those we may perceive as attractive. It's all about establishing proper boundaries around yourself and others.

Is that a Biblical definition?

Personally, I think a man's mind is his sanctuary. Any thought that may pass though it, no matter how immoral it would be if acted upon is safe and fine. Why? Because I can still think you're a dog, a peice of dirt, the scum of the earth, and still be polite to you.

That's nice under the conditions of man's limited knowledge. But the God, before whom ALL will stand in judgment, knows every heart and He hears every thought.

SO don't think that just because you're "thinking" it , but not acting on it, that it will not be judged.

i do agree that lust is a sin, well actually....its what you do with that lust...if you like see a hott girl and are like wow shes pretty i dont think thats wrong but if you see a hott girl and are like wow i wonder what she looks like naked....no that equals bad... in matthew 5:29 and 1 thessalonians 4:3-5....it clearly talks about that sort of lust.
