How do you define lukewarm Christianity? From what I've seen Christians have differences of opinion when it comes to lukewarm Christianity.

So I am just , what is lukewarm Christianity anyway?

That is where Jesus is a "good guy" rather than your savior.

OK. Thank you

Well, I guess he did say in revelation that he would spit them out of his mouth. Or I should say us out of his mouth. Us, not meaning you, but those of us who are lukewarm.

Revelation 3:14-22 > Jesus said the Laodiceans were lukewarm. They were saying they were rich and had no need of anything.

And so, Jesus said, they were not hot and not cold. I consider this means they were not on fire for Jesus, but also they were not declaring themselves to be against Him. But, instead, they only cared about having material security, and did not care to go obviously one way or the other, about Jesus.

So, to me this means I should not evaluate myself only by if I have my physical needs met.

Lukewarm by definition is something that is expected or suppose to be hot or cold, but is in the middle. Its like having coffee that have been sitting around for too long. Or drinking a bottle of soda that have been left in the car. Room temperature is probably another similar word to use. So it's hot and cold mixed together, which makes it neither hot and cold. Usually yucky.

So lukewarm Christianity would be presenting a life that is of indifference to the doctrine. So usually there is a lack of urgency, of clarity, and of importance in the language of someone who is presenting what Christianity is. It would be along the lines of saying " Jesus is a cool way to know God" and "God loves you just the way you are". It's dangerous because then its leaves it open to others influencing your stance. It gives false impressions or confusion when you make it appear that you have a clear stance. Usually yucky.

Several scripture verses about it like a double-minded man being unstable (James 1:6-8), how we can't serve two masters (Matthew 6:24) and how God spits out lukewarmness (Revelation 3:15-16), but yeah, that's my take.

I'd define it as "Here's your Bible. You're on your own now. It's just you and God. Good luck. Bye"

Considering the Lord's description of "lukewarm" in Revelation 3, the word "useless" comes to mind. Hot water is good for washing/cleaning, and cold water is refreshing to drink (so there is a purpose in them both), but lukewarm water is well, useless.

Revelation 3
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice ........

It's like that entire church had become so comfortably complacent in their lives that they were no longer aware of the Lord's presence, much less of their great need of Him. If they were Christians, they certainly couldn't have been acting like they were, because we know what that means. As St. Paul tells us, "all who (even) desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted".. 2 Timothy 3:12.

Yours and His,
David

Well, if you're serious enough about your faith to have made an account and be on here in your free time to learn about the Faith and talk about it with others that's a pretty good indicator that you're warmer than tons of people who's only communion with the Lord is to sit in church and have scripture spoon fed to them, and then they go eat and then rise up to play, treating Jesus like a social club. Just keep learning and seeking opportunities to share him with others and living the way he would want your to and trusting in him before all else.

Complacent is a great description for lukewarm christianity.

Matthew 22:36-40 KJV Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

For me lukewarm person is like praying in church to show people around how good human being you are , but in different environoment let's say in school with friends the same person is cursing and saying dirty stuff .

One has said: "you can have as much of Jesus Christ as you want, and your life shows how much you want". It seems to me to be a personal thing, and is not the responsibility of others to stir us up.

If preachers speak of the love of God, the life, sacrifice, and hope in the Lord Jesus, the mind of God as shown in His Word; and the assembly is Bible-only rather than entertainment, carnal practices, etc., that is all one should expect of the gathering.

We who want more of Christ can have that precious communion by staying in communion with Him ---walking and talking with Him all day. We need to be devoted to our Savior as Lord of our life, studying God's Word, and be looking for Christ's return for His "bride" every day. Looking within is not the calling of God, but "looking unto Jesus, the Author and finisher of faith" (see Hebrews 12:2). What do you think?
