Luke 23:43 and "Descending into Hell"

Wow, I was wondering about this very question today! What are the odds that I would come across this thread now, praise God. One thing that crossed my mind that Jesus could be referring to "paradise" as the Kingdom of God or a relationship with God as something that could be experienced on Earth and that the man he was speaking to entered into, or was entering into, a relationship with God and therefore was about to enter "paradise", where Jesus obviously already was. I found some of the comments you guys made very intersting, especially about the comma, thats definitely something I'm going to be pondering this week. God Bless

Sheol, to translate it better into english, is generally called "the side of the pit", which means that it's next to hell, but not hell itself.

Unfortunatley, that is a view not backed up by the usage of the word Sheol througout the OT. The translations used from the hebrew are either grave, pit or underworld.
