I read that it is a common occurrence for truck drivers, especially rental truck drivers, to ignore the low clearance signs. I believe the rental drivers pay around $25,000 in fees every time this happens!

I’ve been driving big rigs for 15 years and never came close to that.
Mainly stupid drivers. Every driver is required to know the height of their vehicle and over passes are usually marked. Repaving will change the clearance if the road is not ground down before a new surface is laid down. If not new clearance sign are installed but mainly this is just stupidity on the driver.I read that it is a common occurrence for truck drivers, especially rental truck drivers, to ignore the low clearance signs. Whoah boy. Someone should be putting flashing lights on those bridges!
Those lights are camoflagued. It's just cluttered, nobody expects lights on a bridge like that. It needs flashing strobe-type lights, led lights. Those traffic lights are too dull, don't catch the eye unless actually looking at it.The state has put flashing lights, warning signs, and have even programmed the lights to turn red along with the flashing lights... And they still do it! As you can see they rather boldly run the red light! And the RV's go through minus their air conditioners!
Many do have sensors that go off when an oversized load approaches a low bridge.Whoah boy. Someone should be putting flashing lights on those bridges!
You mean the ones that trigger migraines and seizures?Have you seen those bright flash strobes that blink off the back of the highway maintenance trucks? The ones that they park on the highway to block the lanes? Can't miss those ones!
I wouldn't be surprised if they do! They are a real offenseYou mean the ones that trigger migraines and seizures?
It is not legal to use a cell phone here while driving.Maybe if they broadcast warnings on cell phones, the drivers wouldn't have to look up to see there was danger ahead...
