• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I think I may have read a post about this somewhere on this forum, but does anyone else suspect that their anxiety and OCD skyrockets when they've missed a meal or especially after they've eaten too much sugar? I am really thinking that I have found a major cause to my problem and want to know if this is plaguing anyone else...

Absolutely. This is a good point. Not getting enough sleep does me in. I was up late last night and found myself battling the same thoughts that either had not been around or have not bothered me lately. With God's Grace and all of your encouragement I remembered to let it go, even when I felt bad.

Sleep, hunger, low or high blood sugar, caffeine, stress, new situations, fatigue, lack of exercise all are triggers for me and probably many others. Basically, getting out of balance is a trigger. I've learned two related points from this: 1. IT is physiological, 2. taking care of oneself is important.

God bless. Marc

Mega Ditto's to what Marc said. (OOps I may have given a way a secret as to who I listen to sometimes on the radio.)
All those things have a negative effect on the severity of my OCD and Panic disorder. Discipline in those areas really helps me out.. but discipline is something that I often lack and one of my most recent requests to the Lord is that He would develop this in me.

Well, like the title says it, I couldn't agree more with Marcb and Gracealone. I can relate to what they both are saying.

I can't begin to tell you all the things I tried from vitamins and minerals to an extremely limited diet. The list goes on, including exercise.

Unfortunately in some aspects, to this day I don't have a clear picture of what really helps me or not. But it is true that your body will function better with less sugar and more natural healthy food, and therefore, so should your mind.

God Bless You.
