  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Questions....particularly aimed at conservative Christians.

1) Do you find it hard to forgive people? Sometimes...we all mess up, though.
2)If someone "curses" you(flaming, judgmental, threats) do you bless them? Try to.
3)Do you go out of your way to avoid making enemies? I tend not to care what people think of me too much. The people that matter, don't mind, and the people that mind, don't matter.
4)Do you ever think "Thank goodness I'm not like THEM"? No. I'm thankful I'm myself.

I agree that people need to learn to love their enemies, to be patient, and seek common ground.

They need to be less rigid.

And to be more open the idea the God loves everybody, not just certain people of certain political beliefs, religions, and ideas.

Exactly.

We can disagree, that is normal, even healthy, but fighting....that's not very good.

That's a great idea. Too many people instead seem to be a proponent of "God loves everybody, although God just loves me more than you."

Knew that by the tone.

Considering the human rights record of socialism since 1917 why, now and then, aren't questions of charity "aimed" at socialists?

True. You know that Sweden. What a hotbed of human rights violations.

1) Do you find it hard to forgive people? Sometimes...we all mess up, though.

i am not perfect in the promptness of my forgiveness but i can say i do not have any grudges or resentments in my life. i use God's word to help me know the truth:

Luke 17:

3Pay attention to yourselves!(E) If your brother sins,(F) rebuke him, and if he repents,(G) forgive him, 4and if he sins against you(H) seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, 'I repent,' you must forgive him."

2)If someone "curses" you(flaming, judgmental, threats) do you bless them? Try to.

good advice.

3)Do you go out of your way to avoid making enemies? I tend not to care what people think of me too much. The people that matter, don't mind, and the people that mind, don't matter.

i try to live a godly life, that will take care of itself.

4)Do you ever think "Thank goodness I'm not like THEM"? No. I'm thankful I'm myself.

both. when i see someone trapped in a godless life i am thankful since i used to be that way. but yes, i try to live in the present as a son of God.
