He took a bite of his food and chewed thoughtfully. Baron Vorignun Granitecruncher outshone every dwarf-lord before him in lack of sense and mightiness of temper; this was well known to Dale and all the Council. Of late it seemed that bright radiance, or lack thereof, had grown unusually strong, strong in the way that brought the fingers of the King’s right hand together in an iron fist. Dale knew the story, but not this one.
“Vorignun has increased taxes on exports to all other nations as well,” he said after he had swallowed. “I have heard tell that there was fighting among elves and dwarves over the new prices. I am not certain what this may portend. Have you wisdom to give on this affair?”
