Contraception is a selfish-act. It puts the will of Man before the potential blessing of life that God may choose to bestow upon a couple. It serves the self, rather than trusting in God.

Love would be trusting in God's blessing and His divine goodness---that he shall protect and provide for us.

Contraception is a selfish-act. It puts the will of Man before the potential blessing of life that God may choose to bestow upon a couple. It serves the self, rather than trusting in God.

You may be giving contraception too much credit. I have known quite a number of couples who, though they were using contraception, nonetheless became pregnant. God's will is never ultimately thwarted by human selfishness. If He intends for a couple to have a child, they will have one - regardless of their attempts at "protection' during sex.

Contraception isn't always a selfish act. Often it is simple prudence that motivates the use of contraceptives; some people believe they are being wise in using it. Sometimes health issues make pregnancy very risky for both mother and child. At other times, it may be financial or environmental factors that provoke the use of contraception. In any case, it isn't always raw selfishness motivating contraception.

Contraception is an intrinsically disordered and selfish act. Women are not always fertile. For a period during the month, a women is infertile from anywhere to 7 to 12 days, approximately. Hence, one couple may copulate at certain periods naturally, without the artificial interference of contraception. However, even if one would correlate, one's acts of coition to the infertile cycles using NFP (Natural Family Planning), one is still open to life, as God may still bless the couple with a child. As a woman is still capable of getting pregnant, even during her seemingly infertile periods, however the chance is reduced to approximately between 1-9%, compared to approximately 60-70% during fertile periods. The main issue, is being "Open to life." When one utilises contraception against God, by frustrating the procreative faculties of one's union, one rebels and sins against God. This insurrection, is the selfish way, saying in effect to God: "Not Thy will, but my will be done."

Contraception is an artificial barrier and impediment to the blessings of God. No Church, prior 1930, in Christianity had ever viewed contraception as anything but evil, sinful, and contrariwise to the will of God. I should not see why one should not think the same today (relevance to modernity and the ways of the world do not matter with God; His truth stands, no matter the world's fashion).

God does not change; for His truth is immutable, why do some Protestants, some very Liberal Catholics not see this? What is right, is right; And what is wrong, is wrong. If it was wrong prior to 1930, it is wrong, today.

The main issue, is being "Open to life." When one utilises contraception against God, by frustrating the procreative faculties of one's union, one rebels and sins against God.

Chapter and verse, please.

As I said, many people view contraception as the exercise of wisdom. They haven't the least thought of rebellion against God when they choose to use birth control.

Your reasoning sounds a lot like that of those "Christian" folk who play with venomous snakes "trusting God" to protect them from fatal bites. Why be concerned about being bit when God is in control of everything? It is rebellion against the will of God to try and control whether or not one of the snakes bites you! If you get bit, its God's will; if you don't, well, that's God's will, too. It is not one's place to try and prevent being bit; that is solely God's job, so play with vipers whenever you like.

You don't by any chance play with vipers, do you?

Oh? How is this the case if the child and its mother both die during birth? How is it a blessing if the child is born into destitution and disease and dies of malnutrition before the age of two? How is it a blessing if the child is the tenth one to be born into a family plagued by, poverty, parental alcoholism and child abuse? Shall I go on?

No Church, prior 1930, in Christianity had ever viewed contraception as anything but evil, sinful, and contrariwise to the will of God. I should not see why one should not think the same today (relevance to modernity and the ways of the world do not matter with God; His truth stands, no matter the world's fashion).
