wow...surprising how quickly this topic dives off into politics :p I didn't help the OP any :(
We described how the law is fulfilled by loving your neighbor, and there was an insistence on PROVIDING FOR and FEEDING your neighbor that got us talking about Charity. Then someone talked about Gvt Charity, and here we are!

Love for your neighbor, love that equals the love you have for yourself, fulfills the Law. This law is not fulfilled by fleshly effort, NO MATTER HOW MANY NEIGHBORS YOU MIGHT FEED. Provide housing for all the homeless in the city or the county, and you may be taught of God what you REALLY NEED to be right before Him, but that fleshly effort will not fulfill the Law of God.

You are to Love God as well, but the natural man, the fallen nature we inherited from Adam the First, still loves SELF, the EGO, supremely! He cannot love God supremely as long as SELF is First! (we are told to look out for number one!)

Speaking of Loving your neighbor isn't it funny that the people who often give the most are the poorest people. Jesus found this true in His day when He watched the collection bock and then raved at a woman who gave her last bit of money she owned. He said the woman had given more than all even the wealthy because she gave everything she had. The Bible also says the rich are the ones who drag people to court. To Live like Jesus we should not sue any one, or take any one to court but forgive.

I saw a you tube video where they did a test. A man went around telling people He was hungry and asking for a slice of pizza at different pizza places. No one gave him anything. Then one guy with the video gave a homeless man a whole pizza, and they sent that hungry man to ask him for a piece. You Know what happen, the homeless man gave the hungry man a piece of pizza. He did not even think twice about giving.

Blessed are the poor.
