  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

There's such a thing as invited touch? I can't imagine ever asking to touch or be touched by someone. At least since the few times I've done so have yielded a response along the lines of "ew, no!"

I figured that physical affection was sort of spontaneous.

it can be verbally invited, or invited by body language.

if, for example, you're out on a date, its not out of line to ask to kiss her for the first time. I've also told friends that I would like to hug them before just assuming they'd be okay with being hugged. someone opening their arms towards you or just generally being very physically close to you is a pretty good indication that they're ok with being touched.

but if someone is keeping their distance from you, have their arms crossed, body pointed away from you constantly, lack of eye contact/smiling etc... those are pretty strong nonverbal cues that they would not be ok with you touching them.

After reading all the others I'm wondering why I scored so lowest on physical touch out of everyone. I'm not a robot!

It's not that uncommon and I'm actually surprised I scored a bit higher in that area. I'm not really comfortable with people touching me. I don't mind shaking hands and things like that but pats on the back and things like that just make me uncomfortable. However, I love to hold hands and hug and things of that nature but only with the woman I'm dating. Everyone else needs to keep their hands to themselves.

Oh no, one of those....we have some of you in my sorority.

I've wondered before if forced hugging could be counted as assault :p

look here missus... our scores were the same.. you didn't get lower than me:p

Yeah, but I want to be cuddled and have my hand held if I'm with someone. I just don't like it when I'm not really close to someone emotionally and they want to hug me.

Haha but I doubt it would hold up in court.
depends o nthe lawyer.. technically the law would be on the side of the prosecution. It'd be tough to show how hugging resulted in 'pain and discomfort' 2 terms that assault must complete. But with the lawyers of today.. i don't doubt that it COULD occur

A serial hugging investigation? I like the sound of that!

Just think about the impact that would have on society.
