I got the demo for LPEC and while the gameplay itself was absolutely awesome, the mechanics and graphics were absolutely atrocious.

The demo VERY obviously a quick and sloppy port from an Xbox version.

The graphics were grainy and any pickups in the game have to be MANUALLY picked up (Even ammunition from a weapon you currently hold). Also the game doesnt recognize any special keyes on the keyboard (IE: [ ] ; ' , . /) so anything outside the alphabet is ignored which makes modifying the controls a little tough. Another big problem is theres no EXIT button. Yes, you heard me right, theres no way to quit the game. When you play a level, hitting QUIT just takes you back to the MISSION SELECTION screen with no option to quit. You have to CTRL ALT DEL and manually end the program that way. The PC SETTINGS tab brings up a view of an Xbox controller and settings for one. Theres also NO information on what the different things in the game actually are.

Does anyone know if the ACTUAL game itself is anything like the demo in terms of playability? It looks like an absolutely AMAZING game but if its anything like the demo it would be next to un-playable.

I only played the 360 version, but it really is a wonderful game.

Being forced to actively pick up ammunition and weapons isn't so much a drawback as it is ... well... a feature. Gears of War did the same thing. It's different than other games where you just have to run over it while fighting to automatically have it in your stores. Imagine how it was years ago when games started using clips where you had to reload even if you had plenty of ammo.

One should never judge the final product by the graphics of the beta, demo, or otherwise early versions. The cutscenes still look remarkable even though it's an older title, and the gameplay graphics are nothing to shy away from. Then again, there's still the variable of your PC settings and run-time to how the graphics would be.

If it were on the 360, I'd say rent it, but you don't really have that luxury for pc, do you? Guess might want to find a friend who has it and borrow it =P
