The Lord reminded me this morning of this old poem I wrote in 1984:
20191217_111522.jpg

Spring 1984

Lost opportunities to share His love,
To touch a life, to show you care,
Touch a hand, help mend a heart
Broken down with grief and despair.

Lost opportunities to be a friend,
To share a smile, to shed a tear,
Give a hug, say “I love you,”
All because of a word called fear.

That old man fear is such an ugly one,
Creeping in when you least expect.
He disguises himself in many ways.
Instead of loving, all you do is fret.

We are a funny lot, the human race.
We hide behind our masks of fear,
Afraid to touch, to share a glance,
So afraid to have someone near;

So afraid to allow God’s love to flow
Freely through me, and to receive
The love that He has given
Such a friend as you are to me.

But now, dear friend, that fear is gone,
And God has set me free –
Free to love with Jesus’ love,
In His strength, wisdom and understanding.

So, I will share His love,
And I will be a friend.
I will share a smile. I’ll show I care,
Touch a hand, help mend a heart
Broken down with grief and despair.

I’m not afraid to allow God’s love to flow
Freely through me, and to believe
That in His power there can be
No lost opportunities.
