Lost my job

I applied for income assistance last week and was denied, so I explained that I lost my job last night. I was told I cannot wait 6 weeks to re-apply. They did waive the 6 week waiting period and I'm meeting with them tomorrow.

I was approved immediately, my first cheque was issued that day, and it's actually more money than my job would have been (I was only working 12 hours a week).
