Lost in Publishing

Is anyone out there a published writer?

A few years ago I started writing a story based on work experience as a way to release frustrations. It's turned into a spiritual journey for myself in which I have a string of ideas for a possible series. I've only shared the story with a coworker, who was a basis for a character within the story. She's pushing me to get it published.

I have no idea what the first step is in getting it published, other than having it published myself or sending it to an agent. I do have several articles published and a poem published, but no novels. I would appreciate any help at all anyone can give me.

You could actually publish it yourself first, so that you own the rights.

Grab the 2006 Writer's Market and check out the publisher listings that are in the genre you are writing in. Then start sending out query letters with a synopsis of your work. Ask God to lead you to the right publisher, he will light your path. You can also search Google for Christian Publishers for a list, most will post their submission requirements on their site.
