  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is just a little story I started writing. I'm not sure how long it will be, but here's what I have so far:

The young fairy looked up at the tower, and then glanced quickly behind her. She was out of breath, and her tiny face was flushed. Is there time? The sounds of her pursuers were coming closer, but she thought she might just barely be able to make it up to the window. The tower was tall, especially to the four inch tall fairy, with no entrances except for a window almost 30 feet above the ground. With a quick flutter of her bright blue wings, the fairy began the flight upwards. She was young by fairy standards, but humans would think her ancient; she had lived to see two hundred years go by, but she still looked like a fourteen year-old human girl. Her hair was red, reflecting her temper, and her eyes were a bright green that showed her mischievous spirit. It wasn’t more than a minute before she was nearing the window into the tower, though in that time the pursuit came even closer. They would come into the clearing very soon, but she was out of sight. With a last thrust of her wings, she had gone over the window sill, and glided to the floor where she collapsed in high-pitched laughter. The sounds of angry voices below made it quite clear that the people searching for her had reached the clearing.
“Where did that confounded fairy go?”
“Into the tower is my guess, and there’s no point in attempting to follow her up there.”
“But we can’t let her get away that easily; she had the nerve to untie our horses, and when she was finished, to splash my own breakfast in my face.”
“Well, there’s nothing we can do about it now, unless you have a rope in your pockets.”
At that point in the conversation, the voices began to quiet, as the men they belonged to returned to their camp. Silencing her laughter, though it still remained in her eyes, the fairy flew to the window sill and gazed down, making sure that the men were gone. Satisfied that she was alone, she turned to view the room she was in, but was startled by a flash of light that left in its place a human girl. With a small cry of astonishment, the fairy stared at the girl, who was wearing blue jeans, and red sweatshirt. The girl’s hair was blonde, with curls that framed her round face, which at the moment was a mask of amazement.
“Where am I?” the girl stuttered out, surprising the fairy by her voice.
“You’re in the land of Aerindell, in a tower that once held a princess,” the fairy replied, before curiously asking, “How did you get here?”
“I-I don’t know. There was a flash of light, and then…” The girl was staring at the fairy now; she hadn’t noticed the small creature before. “Who are you?”
“I’m Linnea, a fairy.” By then the fairy-girl was flying around the human, studying her. “You’re human aren’t you? I can tell, but you don’t look like any of the humans around here; they’re all fat and stupid. Do you think you can get back to where-ever you came from? Because getting you down from here would be difficult; there’s no way out other than the window. Rapunzel had to use her hair to help the prince get up and down. We could probably figure something out, if I wasn’t on such bad terms with all the humans; I’ve played some pranks on them, and I don’t think they liked that.” The flow of words paused for a moment, as Linnea stopped after making a full circle, and took a breath.
“Did you say Rapunzel? This is her tower? But that’s not real,” the girl exclaimed, staring confusedly at the fairy.
“Yes, it is real. Raina - she’s the oldest fairy, you know - told me about it; she was there. Now can you get back, or down on your own? Or do I have to figure out a way to borrow a ladder?”
“No, I don’t think I can, the girl answered thoughtfully. “By the way, my name is Autumn.”
Linnea nodded in reply, before turning to leave. “I’ll figure out some way to get a ladder. You should stay here, and try not to fall out the window.” Before Autumn could reply, she was gone out the window, on her way to the nearby village.
