Lost Identity

I just realtized something, I killed my own identity for a girl. I loved her so much, and we broke up sunday. Now I realize that I dropped my interests, goals, and who knows what else. So wish me luck in recovering these, and keeping them in boundaries of god. Seeing she is the one to introduce me to an intiment relationship with god, i took her word as authority over mine, now I am catching the faults, so once again, I must change. Ay yah yah...

I feel for you. I was in the same situation about 4.5 years ago (only I had given up my identity for a guy, not a girl, of course). I won't lie to you, it's been a long process, but then again, I had been trying to be who he wanted me to be for almost 3 years. I hope it wasn't that long for you. Don't be surprised if you're at least slightly different than you used to be though. Although I did manage to get my identity back, I chose to change some of my goals, and learning experiences like the one you've been through can cause you to see people, the world, and priorities a little differently.

it was a period of 6 months. now I am trying to fit myself to god's will, rather than get my full identity back. I used to be into somethings that didn't follow christian ethics. And I look at them and wonder why, but when pulled into it, I see how easy it is to fall away. Some things just have perks, but in a negative way. I'm not talking about drugs, alcohol, or sex by the way. lol, but punk rock, video games, 'hacking' and blah blah.
