  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you.
Follow him, and wherever he enters, say to the owner of the house, “The Teacher asks, Where is my guest room ……(Mark 14:13-15)

This is a very detailed, specific instruction. I don’t remember any other instruction like this in the gospel.

Sincerely, I wish all instructions from the Lord were as much in detail as this. Though it could be just my dull ears that fail to receive all of his instructions, many times I rely on his words recorded in the bible. Some other times, I inquire of the Lord and receive simple, general instructions.

Not having received before as detailed instructions as this passage, I tend to believe that if a believer acts based upon the words of the Bible, the Lord honors him and does what he asks. With one mind, I am content. But with another mind, I wish I received his detailed instructions so that my will or mind will not interfere his work.

I don’t know if what I am thinking is right or wrong. It is so new to me, I need to spend time praying and learning about this matter.

Lord,
Can you give me detailed instructions from time to time so that I can weigh if I should always wait for specific instructions or act on faith sometimes? There have been many failures and disappointments when I did the way I did. I am weary of starting out unclear of what lies ahead. If it is for my training, let it continue to be so. But if it is the dullness of my ears, please help my ears. Amen.
