It's a good movie with Christian values, and the books were written by a Christian with a Christian worldview. However the movies have a lot of violence (battles, blood, etc) in them so I wouldn't bring the whole family with young kids to see it.

uhmm people....

wicca has alot of good christian like view points too, ya know?
love nature and people and only do GOOD SPELLS on people and never harm anyone...

but ya know?

i would enjoy the movie without certain parts of it and themes, but i will not have anything to do so much blatant witchcraft and sorcery.
that is something the bible is very clear on, christians ought to have nothing to do with it.
christian themes or not.
christian author or not, the man probly didnt mean wrong, but witchcraft and sorcery are something i wont get anywhere near.
not the real thing or elaborate portrayal of the real thing, except for very strick purposes. i dont need that to help my ministry or anything.
maybe for historical accuracies or whatever... but the point is, sorcery is an abomination, it should be something vile to us.

there are other ways to minister to people, we dont have to try this hard to relate.
and there are better ways to be motivated and feel empowered than to watch something that presents something that is extremely anti-christian in many ways but stirs our emotions.

if serving the Lord and suffering for his cause and truth, makes me not be able watch any good movies, then ill suffer.

i dont really want to debate this, and i dont really want to get into how its really no diffrent than "the lion the witch and the wardrobe".

the sorcery isnt needed, there are better ways to get our yah-yahs and be motivated an inspired.
theres more to life an a series of books and a few movies.

i agree with endure. It's a great movie but we shouldn't give it a label such as christian or non-christian unless it's strictly a christian movie. I have a friend who told me "Of what benefit [spiritual] will i get if i watch the movie?"

Most movies are full of violence and spiritual growth for the audience is hardly the motive of the directors and scriptwriters.

im not trying to argue or make anyone angry or bad mouth anyone and their belief.

but me, i dont believe we should like wizards and such, isnt it alot like liking fornication? both are called an abomination.
and i know we arent actually casting spells, but the talk of it, the veiwing of it, the portrayal of it, shouldnt fit with us, shouldnt be something we show kindness and affection to, God called it an abomination.
God cant stand wizardry.

yeah, very well done movie, but it has sorcery, and i wont have anything to do with that.
no more than id watch 2 people acting like they are having sex, whether they really are or not.
i wont set those unclean things before my eyes.
i understand that witch craft isnt really happening, but i dont beleive we should have anything to do with even the portrayal of it.

i remember in one place, i think it was joshua who said it, that they would have nothing to do with the gods of other nations, not even speak their names...
i think thats how strongly and passionately we should hate things that God hates, in the old testament they didnt permit witches to live, witchcraft is condemned in the bible.
i dont think we should even watch movies like that.

well, think what you will, this is what i believe.

That's fine. But are we talking about the same wizards here? I meant the goofy old men with long robes, pointy hats and long staffs with knobs on the end.... not the no-nonsense sorcerers that one sees in the real world. They aren't the same thing. It would be like calling fantasy-world fairies or nymphs demons, and refusing to draw or watch them on screen becasue they're supposedly evil.

yeah, but i dont wanna see you without any either.

and when the reasons for the convictions are to all people, all people should have the convictions. there are many convictions that should never ever vary from person to person.

well now your making this complicated.
but the point still stands, scorcery is sin, its an abomination to God. we should not enjoy it even the appearance of it. becuase it is the appearance and demonstration of those things.

there is a diffrence between sketching a form of a figure for accuracy or for historical reasons.
and fellowshiping with something, like you really do when you go and sit and allow something to entertain you, thrill you, and fill you for 3 hours.
though just like Joshua wouldnt allow his people even speak the names of those false gods, we should have the same amount of resistance to even the look or sound or appearance of certain things.
and its not that the movie simply has a scorcerer in it, it fills the entire movie.
ya know?
