LOL, the responses here are quite humourous (almost more so than the actual original Loony Toons (which I never particularily favoured in my youth)).
Seriously, they own the characters and can do as they see fit with them. They wanted to try something new, so let them - it'll likely be pretty funny still (superheroes and comedy, sounds good to me). Stop saying "Oh the original creators are rolling in their graves!" I doubt it - they're likely going, "Alright, I like the idea to spice things up, try something new. Let's see how it goes."
And don't imagine the future? What are you saying we should do? Never contemplate what might be? Besides, how seriously do you think the creators' are going to be taking the "future"? They're just playing around with ideas and fantasies. Try to allow for artistic interpretation (I can't beleive I just argued for that... I'm an engineer for goodness sake... an anti-Arts person
