Hi there,
I really like to write, but apart from poetry and short prose I haven't yet produced anything substantial. I have these two ideas about a medium length novel with christian themes, I would welcome any input and advice about it.
Idea 1 - the jewish man in Moses' camp
I would like to write a story about a jew in Moses' time who had sensibilites similar to those which many modern people have. IE, he is appalled by war and cruelity and generally doesn't want to see violence. He is opposed to religious violence as much as to gangster type violence. He is the group of Jews which God leads out of Egypt, and the story shall account for doubts and spiritual problems some people have with religious violence. I'm not sure I can give this guy a happy end. Personally, the story of the Exodus troubles me sometimes. In Jesus our Lord is approachable and friendly, but in the story of Moses He seems rather lofty and scary. So I simply want to write about how a man of conscience can find or cannot find (if it's a tragedy) his place among God's people. I have had such doubts myself and I asked God about it and I got a small vision that God would let me stay with the women and children in the camp when there is a war. Maybe that can be built in somehow?
Idea 2 - the invention of money
In this story I would like to write a fiction about the invention of money in the time shortly before the flood. It's supposed to explain how money is a serious idol and that we christians shouldn't think of idolatry as referring only to the worship of those ancient idols that represented false deities. I want this story to center around a group of young people who invent money and make a profit with it but then they loose their soul to it. Maybe I want to include Noah in it and the Flood itself, but I am not sure. I don't know if the Flood was really worldwide like the bible says or if it maybe was a local Flood.
Please give me some input and advice. Thank you and God bless!
