  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey everybody!

I am planning this coming year's formal (prom if you will) for out homeschooling group here in upstate SC. But I plan on being innovative and doing a completely CHRISTIAN MUSIC ONLY formal! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what would be some good music to play? I plan on doing some switchfoot, FFH (hows that for variety), Michael English, Stacie Orrico, DJ Maj among others.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

You can email me privatly at rghattwrites@bellsouth.net or leave me a message on here.

Thanks!

Rachel

Do you want "safe" Christian music, or any music that is appropriate for Christians? Because most techno and such has no lyrics, so its really not un-Christian. But if you want all Christian check out David Crowder Band, Andy Hunter, and thats about all the electronic influenced music readily available right now in Christian music...sad ain't it... :)

EDIT: If you want some rap check out Kj-52, John Reuben, and Grits...

You'd have to preview the songs - while a lot of techno is fine to listen to, sometimes inappropriate lyrics or other sounds can come up, but not until the middle or the end of the song. The culture of electronic music is actually no better than the culture of metal - and for the record I like both genres. Lots of secular techno songs are devoid of inappropriate content, but others should not be listened to by anyone under 18, if you get my drift.

Sheltershed has not been suggested yet. I like their song "Sparrows and Nightengales" very much. A local Christian nightclub for teens played RAZE a lot. And do not forget "Rock the Party" by P.O.D.

Good point, but I was just generalizing most techno music into one clump...probably a mistake on my part...thanks for the correction. :)

I thought of some more--Hawk Nelson, Flyleaf, Everyday Sunday, Paul Wright, Mat Kearney, ZOEgirl, Matt Brouwer, Rick Altizer,The Kry, Rachael Lampa, Miss Angie, Plumb, Not the Joneses, Hocus Pick, Polarboy, Eli, Delerious, dc Talk, Chasing Furies, Clear, Rebecca St. James...

Mix of old and new there but I think you shouldn't have any problem finding some great Christian music for your prom.

Yeah Anberlin, Acceptance,Antiskeptic (Australian band), Copeland, Emery, Last Tuesday, Mae, MXPX, Number One Gun, Rookie (Australian band), Switchfoot, Wishful Thinking (Australian band) are all great bands that would go well at a school formal/prom. If you want track names I'd be more than happy to give them to you. Just PM me, just incase I forget to come back to this thread! :)
