  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As a newer Christian I have done some reading and growing on my own. I understand that the church is a great place to find those to grow alongside and to find those who may mentor me, but what I would love to do if some of you would allow me to is to write letters (yes, snail mail). I would love to meet a few of you through penmanship rather than through the now ordinary pressing of keys. See my problem is that I feel that much of my growth has been rushed and that I can so easily jump from learning one subject to the other whenever I wish. I think one of the amazing things that cannot be done, or not as easily be done, through typing is the slower paced and actual thought that goes into writing a letter. Yes we think before we type but often we think as we type rather than planning out a letter before writing it. I would love to spend the next months or even years exchanging letters with some of you. Let me know what you think! Message me if you are interested.

I'll take as many penpals as wish to write back and forth with me!

Yo, I'm Terrence and I'm from South Africa. I read what you have written and I really would like to converse with you. It looks like you are serious about it, like me. I am interested in conversing with someone far away who lives under different circumstances than me, and like you said typing gets the thoughts going and is very different than having a conversation. I learn gladly and I also teach gladly. I often have more to learn then I have to teach. So come back to me if it seems a good idea to have me as a friend to have debates and discussions with.
