  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am currently attending seminary fulltime (my first year) and have already received a Bachelors in Theology and Philosophy. I have been working in the same phone bank for about 3 years now and I'm about ready to go crazy. It is in no way fulfilling and, actually, it can be demoralizing.

I've looked online and in other local ads and have not found any fulltime ministry job openings.

Does anyone have any advice? I feel so trapped here.

Advice? If you don't get any direction, get another job or keep the one you have.

In the Bible, local church overseers were mature men who had proven themselves through living godly lifestyles and leading their families well. They were 'senior men', 'older men' or 'elders.

There were also apostles and evangelists who traveled from place to place proclaiming the Gospel to unbelievers who had not heard it before. When churches were formed, they would support people like this.

If your ministry is in a local church, it is an honorable thing to get a 'regular job' and pour your free time into that local church, training and equipping, and if the Lord wants to raise you up as a leader within that church, let him do it. If you sense a call to evangelistic ministry, spend your time sharing the word with unbelievers and see if He would lead you to some kind of itinerant role.
