  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm not sure whether this is the right place to ask this, but I'm wondering if there is such a thing as a small men's group that I can find online, but participate with offline, for fellowship and Bible study. I'm thinking maybe a dozen like-minded mature men to read select Scripture with and talk about what those verses mean to us and how they fit into the whole counsel of God.

By way of disclosure, I'm a 74-year-old born-again, Bible-believing Christian. We live in the woods in the SW Missouri Ozarks, and haven't found a compatible church for in-person fellowship. Also disclosure, my most-valued teachers are Chuck Missler, Pastor John MacArthur, J Vernon McGee and a few others of a similar hermeneutic persuasion.

Please feel free to ask questions if my query here doesn't make sense.

It is always good to seek Jesus, keep seeking, seek the truth, and let Jesus set free from some of the teachings you already believe, that are not in harmony with His Word, in fact some oppose Him.

Finding truth seekers is a very difficult challenge every day.

I do not know of any online groups, but this website has great resources and they are free to watch, listen to and read.

My desire is to find a small group of elderly battered husbands who use The Word of God and not the words of men.
Much work is needed with this problem.
Unfortunately at this point, I've only seen progress in getting the word out that a far greater number of husbands are victims of abuse, as apposed to what was believed a few years ago.
I suspect this problem is closer to the number of men abused roughly equal to women.
Narcisists seem to all have specific tactics or groups of behaviors that they employ and a good counselor can begin spotting them in a short amount of time.
So, as Jesus said to His deciples (paraphrasing)" These come out only by prayer and fasting."
So, He tells us there are different kinds or responsibilities and perhaps even more specific demons which tells me that if church leadership would take the time to learn about the problem and learn how to employ what they learn when counseling couples is this specific type of home disfunction, much could be done to spare more from this nightmare.

My name is Bill.
I am the victim of many years of narcisist abuse and I am a battered spouse of 74.
Please pm me if you know of such efforts being made and are approahable.

"I have found the Companion Bible to be an invaluable study aid. I don't agree on everything Bullinger says.
For instance he says there were four others crucified with Jesus. Appendix 164
He says there were six denials of Peter. Appendix 160
Appendixes to The Companion Bible"

"OP-wise, E.W.Bullinger is tried, true and tested/ proven in line with all of God's Word.... a few errors, but many fewer than present day teachers and evangelists who don't care apparently about allowing error freely !"

Daily at Jesus' feet, we can learn. This is what's necessary. This is what's important and true.

Thank you Aaron. I have a stack of Bibles, study aids, concordances, etc., that is literally more than two feet high. Not to mention many gigabytes of teachings saved on my computer. What I was hoping to find was a connection with a few like-minded guys here where we could pick passages or chapters of Scripture to read and then discuss via email. I'm guessing since there has been so little response that this is the wrong place to ask.

What you are looking for sounds good to me also, but the e-mail format sounds awkward.

I was thinking email because I wouldn't want to conduct this Bible study in the public forum. A private, by-invitation-only room would work, but I don't see where they have those here. Any suggestions? I guess DMs would work if you wanted to keep it within the forum.

yes, I agree.
Also, it's like flipping a coin -
'heads' get one kind of error,
'tails' get another kind.
'lands on edge' - TRUTH! possibly..... there's not anything in place to safeguard/verify truth. People/ visitors and members/ just reading the threads often see that in three minutes reading/searching.
For reeality instance : a huge percentage of the resources you have at hand will/can/ lead you into error.
In sharp contrast, e.w.bullinger, and even moreso one or two others un-named, are best findable truth, that is while they may be found. The options are getting smaller every day.

DM's would work, but only 2 people at a time? Have you asked moderators for help identifying an appropriate option?

I'm thinking now that what I was envisioning in my head that I thought I wanted probably isn't going to work for me IRL. Basically, I miss the in-person men's fellowship that I enjoyed at a former church. I'm not in the position now to find it locally where I live, but I also don't think now that an online venue would work for me. Oh well. I'll have to think of something else.

Is it okay if someone else thinks of something that is truthful, helpful, worthwhile, generous, beneficial, enlightening, uplifting, and , with God's Provision, possible ?
I'll have to think of something else.
