  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Look what I ran across…

Found this book and going to start reading it soon. I thought @Wolseley would be particularly interested. Have you read this one Wols? This will be going in my collection of antique books of Faith.

I have never heard of it, Michie. :)

Let me know how it is.
Will do. I did found out that Christian Reid is a pen name. It was a woman that wrote the book but I cannot recall her actual name at the moment….

Here you go-

What have you read of her work?
Not a great deal; about a thousand years ago, I read her short story The Pictures of Las Cruces, which is set in Mexico. Other than that, about all I know of her is that she was a devout Catholic, came from the South, and her father was killed in 1861 at the First Battle of Bull Run. Pretty sketchy, I know. :)

Well I’m pretty excited about starting it. While scanning it, I saw there was a scene in there where someone was speaking oh how awful it was to have a devotion to Mary. As we both know, back in that time Catholicism was considered horrific. It should be interesting to see where the story goes.
