  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

To all the Converts to the Catholic Church:

While a Protestant, did you notice a longing to be 'catholic?'

I know, looking back, I always thought how cool it would be if my Baptist church was opening during the week, just to go in a pray.

I remember thinking (long before the Catholic Church was ever in my head) how silly praying at the alter was. What was so special about praying there opposed to anywhere else..,

I always had trouble praying. Finding the right words to use and so on. I always used to pray "the Lord's Prayer,"...

Know what I mean??

I'm not actually a convert, at least not yet, but I hope you'll tolerate my response.

Ohhh, I always wanted my church's altar to be open at other times of the day, for me to pray at. Sometimes while I was waiting at night for my mom to get out of choir, I would walk around and into the pitch-black sanctuary, and think about how nice it would be to kneel at the steps. I did once or twice, but I was always too paranoid to stay, for fear of someone catching me. :(

Well I never had trouble praying, but I sometimes had trouble believing that my prayer was effective.
