According to Leviticus, yes. 80 for a girl, 40 for a boy. :)

Wait...you have to stop having sex after you give birth after all the ickyness of being pregnant and having to go through with labor?

If that's true, I have just found myself with another reason to adopt.

And to the OP:
I have been married less than a month. I don't think my answer would be helpful.

Do they want to have intercourse? Maybe it's a stress or schedule thing? One whole year is a long time....

Four months. I have a condition called autoimmune progesterone dermatitis and some months it just won't clear. Also it turns out I was allergic to him, as well as both latex and non-latex condoms.

*sigh*

And before we got married we had these ideas about twice a day. I give him once or twice a month and am in pain and rashing out for the rest of the month.

There is no reason you have to do this just because someone else does it.

As for the OP, if the couple is fine without it then it's not a problem.

You don't have to wait that long to have sex after giving birth. JRSut said that because she & her husband follow Old Testament law for whatever reason. My husband & I had 6 babies (all grown now!) I think the most we ever waited was 2 weeks or so. However, if you don't want to have kids for any reason, there's nothing wrong with that either. Just don't let this be your reason cuz that's not necessary.

Dont forget that a womans body is still healing after giving a baby, know how traumatic that is? I was in pain for at least a month afterwards (but yes babies are totally worth it!). Even medically, its recommended to wait at least 6weeks postpartum so that a womans body is properly healed both externally (tearing or episiotomy) and internally (obviously the uterus and everything in there returning to normal).

Yes, that's true JRSut. I maybe shouldn't have minimized it so much, but I just happened to have a very easy time, so it wasn't a problem for me. Usually 6 weeks is what docs recommend, but there can be other circumstances such as you mentioned. And please know I did not mean any disrespect to you either in my previous statement.

Probably more than two months after a baby was born. A woman needs some time to heal up. After she'd healed up, she went through a time of and stress with our life situation and a relatively young baby that seemed like it lasted a month. Maybe it was a couple of weeks. Eventually, I had a talk with her that that wasn't acceptable and she realized it and we got out of that slump.
