  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

They can. My wife lived in California and I live in Pennsylvania. Though you will have a bit more of a challenge being that you're international and immigration laws in this country are a pain if you're planning on moving here if things lead into marriage. It's a lot easier through marriage but it's still a time consuming pain in the butt.

I'm in Ohio, USA. My soon to be wife is in (long name city), Philippines. Just over 8,100 miles away.

The worst country for rules is when you bring someone to the Philippines to the UK. My friend in the UK just married his wife as the laws changed. Now it could take him around 10 years before the are together in the UK. He just may move to Ireland so he can get her there easier, then move back to the UK.

I know for me and my fiance the rules are a pain too. Complicated, pricey and long. I had to get a lawyer. By the end of the process (including Green Card stuff) I will have spent around 15k. THats not counting the lawyer fees. But if a persons love is true and serious, no amount of money, time, distance...etc matters. Nothing is impossible through God.

My boyfriend and I are in more like an SDR (Significant Distance Relationship). We are a bit over 2 hours apart. It contributes to issues even so. I hate the inconvenience and seperation at times. You have to both be willing to do whatever you can to bridge the gap. It CAN work though. Best wishes to you!

Loving the comments!
The plan is to get engaged this year and married next year and I would be going down there. Sooner if it works out of course, but this is the timeline we've sort of set up.

His family stays in Nantucket all summer so I really want to visit there.

Haha I'm not sure whether to congratulate you or tell you to run away. Unless he lives in Pittsburgh or Philly, there is absolutely nothing here and even then, Pitt and Philly are pretty nasty cities.

There's nothing to do here and above that, many jobs keep leaving so there is very little in the way of work here. The only reason I've not left again is because I like the quiet.

They can work if the two are committed to seeing it through and able to visit each other regularly (I don't believe in carrying on faux "relationships" online, that's not reality), and one person agrees to move to where the other is. Eventually someone's going to have to move. If neither person is agreeable to moving, there's no point in continuing the romance.

I met my hubby on a Christian dating site. We met face to face within 3 weeks of our first email, he visited once or twice a month (I'm in Delaware, he was from Texas) until he finally moved up here and we got married.
