  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We can sometimes feel lonely, maybe even isolated, and maybe we are ...

But the Holy Spirit is our Teacher, Our Guide in this life of faith, and He can lead the way, reveal the truth, make mysteries to be known to us, when we trust Him.

The Holy Spirit ... He is a Gift to us sent down from the Father through the finished work of The Son on the cross. Jesus did not leave us alone when He returned to His home in heaven. We are wise to cherish this Gift within us, The Holy Spirit, Almighty God.

No teacher? No mentor to show the way? Never, when we belong to Jesus! :)

The Holy Spirit is with us. He is faithful to show the way out of the darkness and into the light.

Fear not. Trust God. He will complete the work He has begun in us. Heaven will one day be our home. Rejoice.

Even in the temporary darkness we can rejoice, for we belong to God.

This I was thinking today: Jesus is a Person. If He was here with me in a body I wouldn't feel lonely. But then, I couldn't see Him that much with all those people all around the world. Thank God He lives within me because He gave us His Holy Spirit.

Amen! Good thread.

But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Amen... loneliness is one problem that is seldom shared... and I think all the world, shares it... it makes birds fly in flocks, it makes cattle stay in the herd... we need one to be our Leader, our Lord.. it is natural...

the world seeks all kinds of 'leaders' and confidantes... but one is still lonely till they find Jesus...

some of the songs that have held me together at times through the years... wore out a few of these... but they have truths that help

I have depression and rarely leave my house. I have not many friends and the numbers are shrinking. I feel lonely many times but yet I can also feel the presence of my Father at times when I am spiritually filled.

I know that the Lord made a promise that He will never forsake us BUT, there is a verse that has tested my faith, everyday literally.

Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

Some compulsive sins that have taken a strong foothold in my life that I can't shake off. It's a circle of ' sinned - ask for forgiveness - repent 'and round and round I go. It's depressing and lonely, for me, is inevitable unless a divine intervention to cut out that part of my mind that corrupts. But we all know too well the Lord does not work that way. Every now and then I pray for the rapture to spare myself of the tortures. Longing for the loud trumpet so I could kneel on the ground and leave this foreign place......

Yes, it's going to be a great day ...

when there are no more struggles with the world, the flesh, or the devil ...
no more worries, no more fears, no more aloneness from others ...

... but rather, life together with Jesus, in the family of God!

I absolutely love the encouragement on this thread! Loneliness is a feeling I struggle with on a regular basis and have struggled with since I can remember.

I once wrote a blog post titled Letter to the Lonely (found at bchearts.net).

It's comforting to know that although I may be lonely, I am not alone in my struggles. Jesus knew what it felt like to be lonely, I get to have a friendship with Him that last for eternity!

... and thank you for sharing the link to your blog post! :)

I found what you wrote, in the April 2013 archives. I hope you don't mind that I post the link to it here. I think it fits in real good with the subject of this thread:

Who cares if you're alone here. I prefer being alone here and have God happy instead of being alone in eternity.
Hi Messy . . . as I've been away for about 8 months, its been a long time no see or hear.

Some in the Bible felt 'loneliness', and expressed it...

Psalm 102:5-7 (KJV)
By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.
I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.
I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.

Some emphasize that their churches are ‘friendly churches’. Yet, behind the sign at the front door, over the welcome mat in front of it, is often a crowd of people still lonely, still craving what is seldom experienced, i.e. that intimate relationship of the ‘Friend, that sticketh closer than a brother.’

Proverbs 18:24 (KJV)
24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

Jesus is that 'Friend', and we can always call His name, and find Him near.

Only... if we do not know and understand that the Lord is in us and is with us and is always talking to us to lead us and guide us.

With the presence of the Lord... who is lonely???

I wouldn't consider it stupid but an opportunity to "rebel against hell" and enter in to the presence of the Lord and enjoy your salvation

You must be doing something right for ol slewfoot to be throwing thoughts of loneliness at ya... sounds like you've got him running scared somewhere, so keep on keeping on!

Yes, I agree with this as we too often present the position that all we need is the Holy Spirit. I have absolutely no doubt that the Father had designed us to always be in fellowship with one another.
