This is what religious extremism has brought to Europe and America and Spain...Etc.. we should not be pointing reasons as to why these bombings took place we should be pointing our fingers at those who are terrorists and hide behind their "faith". I say we stop the politiking and bikering and pray and hope for those in london and their loved ones.

Yes, we obviously need to keep them in prayer for protection more vigilantly than we have.

Yes, there is a reason, simply, they are ministers of darkness, what more reason do they need? Do we only perceive of the flesh in this life?

Let's pray for those who did this as well as the victims.

Luckily the scale of the attack is low in terms of human casualties. This seems to be an economic attack on the infrastructure. It reminds me of the Madrid bombings, so I am guessing it was done by an islamicist group, but certainly not Al Qaeda.

All ok here. If tterrorists think setting off a few bombs in London will have any effect they are stupid, and have ignored the lessons of history. Look at WW1 Zeppelin raids, the blitz (especially The Blitz), the right wing anti-gay London bombs of a few years ago and the long term IRA bombing campaign. Londoners are irrepresiblle, and in terms of what they are used to this was nothing.

A sad day, but inevitable. Life goes on. Condolences to anyone injured this morning, or who has family effected.

A group calling itself "Secret Organization — al-Qaeda in Europe" has posted a claim of responsibility for the series of blasts in London, a German magazine reported Thursday.
Der Spiegel magazine reported that the group posted its message on a Web site popular with Islamic militants, which it did not name. It said the group claimed the explosions were in retaliation for Britain's involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan.

What puzzles me is this: Al Queda always aim for maximum casualties in their attacks. Many, many people died in 9/11 and Madrid. Now if they were aiming to disrupt the infrastructure, they could have done so anyway with much bigger bombs. It doesn't seem characteristic of them that the fatalities are so low... not to undermine in any way the suffering of those that have died... but they could have killed many thousands...

Australian news is reporting that the official death toll is still two - though with eyewitness reports the number is likely to be higher. BBC website is also still remaining at two official deaths.

Here in the States I have heard the figure of 20 deaths being "confirmed". Though as many of you have already pointed out, it's still pretty sketchy.

The term Al Qaeda is used very loosely. Al Qaeda sympathisers yes; possibl even those who recieved training in the past, but I doubt anyone associated with the core group. Madrid was not either.

Small bombs are fine to cause confusion and stop trins running. The real costs of this attack will be the lives lost of course, but the monetary costs to the economy and disruption is pretty significant, and probably the intended effect.

Pray for the victims and the bombers, and pray for us all
